Viewing and managing your trade orders

The Orders tab allows you to conveniently track and manage your trade orders (e.g., open, executed, failed, cancelled). In this area, view important details about the status of your orders, learn how to modify or cancel open orders, and more to help better manage your portfolio. To learn more, choose your preferred trading platform below.

  • Questrade Trading

    To view your trade orders:

    1. Log in to Questrade Trading
    2. Click/tap Account
    3. Click/tap Orders

    For your convenience, you can display your orders as All, Open, or Executed for a certain date range.
    Canceling open orders:

    1. Open your Orders tab in Questrade Trading
    2. Click/tap Open (to view only open orders
    3. Choose the order you're looking to cancel
    4. Click/tap Cancel
    5. If you decide to cancel your order, click/tap Yes on the Confirmation page
    6. Once you make the changes, click/tap Buy or Sell

    Modifying open orders:

    1. Open your Orders tab in Questrade Trading
    2. Click/tap Open (to view only open orders
    3. Choose the order you’re looking to modify
    4. Click/tap Modify
    5. Your order details transfer to the Order entry tab so you can make the changes
    6. Once you make the changes, click/tap Buy or Sell

    By default, the platform shows you key information about your orders such as symbol, status, action, quantity and fill price. However, you can add more information that is relevant to you.

    2. Click/tap + to add fields or - to remove fields
    ColumnDescription
    SymbolThe ticker symbol for the security
    StatusThe current status of the order
    ActionIndicates the type of order you placed
    QtyThe amount of shares/contracts requested for the order
    Fill qtyThe amount of shares/contracts that have been filled
    Limit priceThe limit price for the order (if applicable)
    Stop priceThe stop price for the order (if applicable)
    Fill priceThe price you paid or received for your order
    DurationThe length of time the order stays active until it is filled or expires
    Order typeThe order type you used (e.g., market, limit, or stop)
    Time placedThe time at which you placed the order on the platform
    Bracket IDThe unique identifying number for your bracket order
    Brkt ordIdentifies if the order is a primary, limit, or stop-loss order from a bracket order
    Cross zero IDThe unique identifying number assigned by us to each cross zero order
    Days to expThe number of days until your options contract expires
    DescriptionThe full name of the security
    Exchange IDThe unique identifying number assigned by the trading venue to each order
    Expiry dateThe date your option contract expires
    Strategy typeThe type of multi-leg strategy for your option contract (e.g., covered call, married put, condor call)
    Option typeIdentifies whether your option contract is a call or put
    Order IDThe unique identifying number assigned by us to each order
    Parent IDThe unique identifying number assigned to a primary order that has multiple related orders (e.g., bracket orders, trailing stop orders)
    RouteThe preferred trading venue to send the order to
    Security IDThe unique identifying number assigned to the security
    Special instIdentifies any special instructions for the order
    StrikeThe price at which your option contract can be exercised
    Sub-routeThe alternative trading venue to send the order to if the primary exchange is unavailable
    Total feesThe sum of all commissions, SEC (Security and Exchange Commission) fees, exchange fees, and ECN fees charged
    Trigger price The price the order was/will be triggered at
    Updated timeThe last time the status of the order changed
    VenueThe exchange or ATS (alternative trading system) the order was sent to

  • IQ Edge

    To view your trade orders:

    1. Log in to IQ Edge
    2. Click Account, and then click Orders
    3. By clicking Orders you can view historical orders from 1 day, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, and 3 months

    For your convenience, you can display your orders as All, Open, or Executed for a certain date range.
    Canceling open orders:

    1. Open your Orders tab on IQ Edge
    2. Click Open orders
    3. Choose the order you're looking to cancel
    4. Click the X symbol
    5. If you wish to cancel your order, click Yes on the Confirmation window

    Modifying open orders

    1. Open your Orders tab on IQ Edge
    2. Click Open orders
    3. Click on this icon User-added image
    4. Click/tap Modify
    5. Modify the order and click Buy or Sell

    Tip: by right-clicking a particular position, you get quick shortcuts to cancel orders, modify orders, create similar orders, attached bracket orders, add securities to your watchlist, export data to excel, change settings, and more.
